The Famous San Francisco cable car. The principle is very much similar to the sky cable cars.. There is a steel cable running below the street, and the car latches on to that to move, and releases contact to come to a halt.. there are huge crowds at every station waiting to get onboard one of these..- mainly touristy, too slow for practical use :)
